PROJECT OCTAGON
Project Octagon is an outdoor art initiative that focuses on creative experimentation and poetic activism, presenting co-creation between artists, thinkers and specialists from a wide range of fields. Within the walls of the Gothic Revival Anglican Chapel at Nunhead Cemetery, where history, communities, and nature converge, Project Octagon offers artists an opportunity to push their practice beyond conventional boundaries, challenge conformity, and explore the margins of rhetoric in the public realm. The Friends of Nunhead Cemetery (FONC) and Southwark Council generously provides this nonconventional exhibition space for the project, aiming to foster the value of a connected creative community, shared experiences, knowledge, and support. Project Octagon celebrates the cemetery's rich heritage and unique ecology and engages in creative exploration of the natural elements, trading white gallery walls for open skies and green terrains.
